Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail (extended to Woodford)
28.78 kmFully sealed bitumen on the Caboolture-Wamuran section. Unsealed, trail-grade surface (old rail formation / national park track) on the Wamuran-Woodford section - a mountain bike or hybrid with wider tyres is recommended for this stretch, which is not built or maintained to the same standard as the sealed section.Caboolture to Woodford (via Wamuran)
Follows the former Caboolture-Kilcoy railway line (opened 1909, closed in stages 1961-1996) from Caboolture through rural Wamuran and on to the historic township of Woodford. The Caboolture-Wamuran section (approx. 10.4km) is a fully sealed, council-built shared path opened in stages 2019-2021, popular with runners, cyclists and mobility scooter users, with good end-to-end infrastructure (shelters, water fountains, bike pumps). IMPORTANT: only this Caboolture-Wamuran section is the officially completed, sealed rail trail - RTA notes 'investigations are continuing on an extension to Woodford' as of this build, meaning the Wamuran-Woodford stretch (approx. 18.3km) is not yet official rail trail infrastructure. It follows the old rail corridor informally, partly through Glasshouse Mountains National Park, and is used as an unsealed track by walkers and more adventurous riders - see errata for detail. Included here as one continuous entity since this is how the trail is actually ridden end to end, per rider preference.
Caboolture to Wamuran (approx. 10.4km, official sealed rail trail): starts near Beerburrum Rd in Caboolture (a short ride from Caboolture Station), passes through bushland and rural/farming outlooks, finishes at Atwood St, Wamuran. Wamuran to Woodford (approx. 18.3km, unsealed old rail corridor / national park track, not an officially completed rail trail): continues north-west along the old Kilcoy railway alignment, passing through Glasshouse Mountains National Park (unsealed, rainforest to dry forest terrain) before reaching the historic Woodford railway station site and the township of Woodford.
