Encounter Bikeway

30.98 kmMostly sealed shared paths, with quiet back streets and short sections of packed gravel.Victor Harbor to Goolwa

A coastal shared path on the Fleurieu Peninsula linking Victor Harbor, Port Elliot, Middleton and Goolwa. It follows the old railway line between Victor Harbor and Goolwa, where the heritage Cockle Train still runs. Mostly flat and sealed, it suits all ages and can be ridden in short sections between the towns.

From The Bluff at Encounter Bay along the Victor Harbor foreshore (about 5.5km), through Victor Harbor town, then via Flinders Parade and back streets to Port Elliot (about 7km); the path skirts Port Elliot around Horseshoe Bay, and the main street is a short detour. Then about 4km to Middleton, mostly off-road through Basham Beach Conservation Park, and about 15km along the coast to Goolwa, finishing at Laffin Point on the Goolwa Channel. Riders can take the Cockle Train one way on set days - book the bike space with SteamRanger first.
