Great Southern Rail Trail

155.62 kmCompacted gravel.Nyora to Yarram

A long rail trail along the old South Gippsland railway line through rolling green hills and small towns: Nyora, Loch, Korumburra, Leongatha, Koonwarra, Meeniyan, Fish Creek, Foster, Toora, Welshpool and Alberton, finishing at Yarram. The Nyora to Yarram route is about 131km; detours to Port Welshpool (about 5-6km) and Port Albert (about 9km) bring it to roughly 146km. The final Welshpool to Alberton section opened in 2024.

Nyora to Loch (6km), Korumburra to Leongatha (15km), Leongatha to Meeniyan via Koonwarra (16km), Foster to Welshpool via Toora (20km), then Welshpool to Alberton (22km) and Alberton to Yarram (6km) on the Tarra Trail. Your track includes the Port Welshpool and Port Albert detours ridden out and back, which is why the measured distance (155.6km) is longer than the 131km trail itself. It can easily be ridden in shorter sections.
