Intercity Cycleway

14.77 kmSmooth concrete shared path.Hobart to Claremont

Hobart's main off-road bike route, a smooth concrete shared path alongside the Hobart to Glenorchy railway corridor from the waterfront at Sullivans Cove to Claremont. It links the city, the Derwent River foreshore, Glenorchy and Moonah, with branches to MONA and to the Cadbury factory at Claremont. It is flat, easy riding but has many road crossings and can be busy at peak times.

From Mawson Place at Sullivans Cove the cycleway follows Davey Street and the Tasman Highway to the Cenotaph, then runs beside the railway and the Derwent River under the Tasman Bridge and past the Botanical Gardens. It then follows New Town Rivulet through Moonah and Glenorchy to Berriedale and Claremont, ending at Bilton Street; a 2021 shared path continues from Berriedale Road to MONA. Official lengths are about 14-15.5km; the measured track is 14.8km.
