144.23 kmNatural gravel and grass from Kilkivan to Murgon; sealed from Murgon to Kingaroy and beyond.Kilkivan to Kingaroy, continuing to Yarraman

A rail trail along the old Kingaroy Branch railway (part of the former Theebine to Nanango line), running 88km from Kilkivan through Goomeri, Murgon, Wondai and Tingoora to Kingaroy. The track in this record continues beyond Kingaroy towards Yarraman, where it links with the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (the two together make about 305km). From Murgon to Kingaroy it is Queensland's longest sealed rail trail section, for walkers and cyclists only; Kilkivan to Murgon is a natural surface best for mountain bikes, walkers and horse riders.

Kilkivan to Goomeri is about 28km with no towns in between, so carry food and water; Goomeri is known for its bakery and heritage main street. Goomeri to Murgon is about 17km of gravel with gates (around ten between Manyung Road and Goomeri), gully crossings and some patches of exposed railway ballast, and gullies were damaged in the 2022-23 floods. Murgon to Wondai is about 13km and Wondai to Tingoora about 8km, then sealed to Kingaroy. Trail conditions can change after weather events - check locally before riding the unsealed section. Measured track length is 144.23km.
