18.6 kmCompacted earth and fine gravel.Melba Flats to Williamsford
Follows the former North East Dundas Tramway through rainforest to the 105m Montezuma Falls. Williamsford is a former mining town now being reclaimed by bush, and the trail meets the Murchison Highway at Melba Flats. It is in two sections with different permitted uses.
Melba Flats to Montezuma Falls (about 14km): the old tramway formation is used as a 4WD track and can be wet and muddy. Several creeks have lost their old timber bridges, so expect wet feet. The Ring River Track joins part-way along. Montezuma Falls to Williamsford (about 5.5km): walking and cycling only, a gentle climb along the tramway formation with a steel suspension bridge across the valley near the falls. The track near the falls can be wet and slippery. The 9km Melba Flats to Zeehan Rail Trail connects to Zeehan. No bike hire, charging, food or accommodation are listed.
