A flat, well-vegetated former rail corridor between Balaklava and Halbury, built in 2012 on a line that opened in 1876 and closed in 1988. Named after Shamus Liptrot, a junior cyclist from Halbury, with a memorial near Bridge Road. Dogs are not allowed.
Starts at Triangle Reserve on Edith Terrace, Balaklava (parking on Edith Terrace). Follows a shared path east behind Christopher Street, turns onto Bridge Road at about 1.5km and crosses Dunn's Bridge, an 1880 bowstring-arch bridge over the Wakefield River. At about 4.5km a narrow bridge crosses a creek - dismount. Devil's Garden mallee woodland is at the Roberts Road crossing. Ends at Cross Street, Halbury, where a signed back-roads route continues to Leasingham.
