Northern TerritoryRail trails
1 trail · 1 section mapped.
The Northern Territory has very little in the way of converted rail trail. The old Ghan alignment and other historic railway routes are largely unformed and remote, without the water, shade or town spacing that make rail trail touring comfortable elsewhere.
Riders heading north should plan around the dry season, carry far more water than they would down south, and treat any historic railway route as remote outback travel rather than a maintained trail. Anything listed here is added as it becomes a genuine, rideable trail.
Best time to ride: May to September (the dry season) only.
