Wadandi Track (Cowaramup to Sebbes Road)
29.85 kmMostly firm dirt or gravel, very flat, well maintained - rated among the highest-quality, most accessible trails in the region.Cowaramup to Sebbes Road (near Witchcliffe)
The southern section of the Wadandi Track, following the old Busselton to Flinders Bay railway (closed 1957) from Cowaramup, through Margaret River, to Sebbes Road (a few minutes' drive south of Witchcliffe). Also known as 'Rails to Trails'. A family-friendly, flat, easy trail through beautiful bush, farmland and vineyards in the heart of the Margaret River wine region - rated one of the most accessible and user-friendly trails in the region owing to its uniform, gentle railway grade. IMPORTANT: this section is currently NOT physically connected to the northern section further along the old rail corridor (see sibling entity, Wadandi Track - Busselton to Carbunup River) - a $17.5 million State Government-funded project (2024-25 to 2027-28) will eventually complete the missing 63km between the two sections, extending the whole trail to 109km from Busselton to Augusta, but this is not yet built. Popular access points include Carters Road (for a shady karri-forest walk to Lears Road), Gnarawary Road (farmland/wildflowers to Redgate Road) and Sebbes Road south to Vlam Road (good for kangaroo sightings).
Cowaramup to Margaret River: through vineyards, farmland and native forest, passing remnants of the old railway including restored bridges. Margaret River to Witchcliffe/Sebbes Road: continues south, connecting near Margaret River town centre via the Alfred Bussell Trail. A section north of Cowaramup, extending the trail further, is currently in development.
